NEW SAFETY MEASURES

•  Our waiting room is closed to help ensure patients maintain a safe social distance. Please call or text Marlee at 360-734-2822 when you arrive. We will take patients directly back to treatment rooms to ensure safe physical distancing.
•  As always, treatment rooms and equipment are disinfected before and after every patient. Instruments are cleaned, then sterilized with steam.
•  We are conducting paperless pre-visit screenings for all patients with upcoming appointments.
•  Our staff are up-to-speed on COVID-19 symptoms and utilize recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•  We will meet you outside where your temperature will be taken prior to being brought into the building. If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or other COVID-19 symptom your appointment will be rescheduled.
•  Only patients, or patients plus one critical caregiver, are allowed into an appointment.
•  Please wear a mask to your appointment, and leave it on until you are in the treatment room. If you don't have a mask, we will provide one.
•  We have implemented digital tools for check-in as well as contactless payment methods to reduce germ spread via clipboards, pens, and money.
•  We've added time between appointments to allow for sanitizing and to keep patients apart from one another to avoid high volume or density.
•  Any patients or staff who were diagnosed with COVID-19 must have an all-clear notification from their physician before entering our facility.
•  We ask that all patients use the hand sanitizer provided at the front door upon entering. It will also be available in other areas of the office.

As always, our main concern is the safety and well-being of our patients and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us at any time.
Implant Crowns
After placement of an implant by the oral surgeon or periodontist that Dr. Howrey has referred you to, the tissues are allowed to heal from 3-6 months. When healing is complete, the implant is ready for a crown or bridge.

Dr. Howrey will take an impression of the implant and send it the laboratory where the permanent crown will be made. There are two types of implant crowns: cement retained and screw retained.

The cement-retained implant crowns are cemented onto the implant just like a normal dental crown is cemented. These implant crowns work well in esthetic areas, like front teeth.

A screw-retained implant is often used on posterior teeth. It is held in place with a small screw that is placed through an opening on the top of the crown. Resin is placed in this opening. If a screw becomes loose, the resin can be removed and the screw can be tightened is needed.

To learn more about replacing missing teeth with dental implants and whether this is a treatment option for you, please call our Bellingham, WA dental office at (360) 734-2822.
